Beetroot Smoothie

This smoothie is super quick and easy to make. It is packed with folate, iron, B12 and antioxidants, which are the 4 pillars of building healthy red blood cells!
Time: 5 minutes
Serves 1

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 small beetroot
  • ½ cup of raspberries or blueberries
  • 1 cup of spinach, kale or silverbeet
  • 3 soaked prunes or 1 soaked date
  • Small wedge of lemon (organic if possible, peel included)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of spirulina powder*
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • ½ cup of water or milk of choice
  • 2 tablespoons of sunflower seeds/hemp seeds*
  • *Optional, but delicious

METHOD:

  1. Place all ingredients in a speed blender until smooth
  2. Top with fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, yoghurt if you want a more substantial smoothie
  3. Enjoy
