About Peter Mullen — Naturopath, Founder & Clinical Mentor

With more than 35 years of clinical experience, Peter Mullen is the founder of Mullen Health and has dedicated his career not only to helping patients improve their health, but also to advancing the clinical skills and knowledge of the next generation of naturopathic practitioners.

Over more than three decades in practice, Peter has worked with a diverse range of patients and increasingly complex health presentations. His clinical interests span gut and digestive health, metabolic and cardiovascular health, hormonal health, inflammation, fatigue, stress and nervous system health, weight management, genetics and complex chronic health conditions.

A strong believer that some of the most valuable learning happens in the clinical environment, Peter is passionate about helping developing practitioners bridge the gap between what they learn in their studies and what they experience with real patients in practice.

At Mullen Health, education and professional development are an important part of the clinic culture. Practitioners have the opportunity to learn from clinical cases, pathology and functional testing, treatment planning, nutritional and herbal medicine strategies, patient communication and the practical realities of managing patients over time.

Peter encourages practitioners to continually ask questions, investigate further and understand the “why” behind a patient’s presentation, rather than simply treating symptoms.

His clinical approach has also led to the development of The Mullen Method, a structured framework centred around four foundational areas: Gut Function, Nutrient Restoration, Stress & Nervous System Balance, and Inflammation Control. This provides practitioners with a systematic way of approaching complex cases while still recognising that every patient is an individual.

Peter remains an enthusiastic student himself. He continues to research developments in nutritional and herbal medicine, functional pathology, genetics, metabolic and cardiovascular health, and the gut microbiome, and believes strongly that experienced practitioners should never stop learning.

Learning Through Clinical Experience

For students, new graduates and developing practitioners, Mullen Health offers an environment where clinical knowledge, practical experience and mentorship come together.

Peter’s goal is to help practitioners develop the confidence to think clinically, interpret information critically, communicate effectively with patients and build treatment strategies that are both evidence-informed and practical.

Above all, he wants practitioners who spend time at Mullen Health to leave with greater knowledge, greater confidence and a much deeper understanding of what it takes to become an excellent clinician — with the structure and support to build or grow a strong, lasting caseload along the way.

Naturopaths & Natural Medicine Practitioners

Mullen Natural Health Centre regularly accepts expressions of interest from experienced practitioners who are looking to grow a successful practice within a well-established clinic environment.

Administration & Customer Support

Our Care Assistants play an important role in creating a welcoming and organised clinic environment. They are often the first point of contact for our patients and help ensure each visit runs smoothly.

This role suits someone who enjoys helping people, is highly organised and has a genuine interest in natural health.

We would love to hear from you if you:

• Have a warm and caring personality
• Are highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Have excellent customer service skills
• Are comfortable managing appointment systems and computers
• Can multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Enjoy building relationships with patients both in person and over the phone

Typical hours

Approximately 20 hours per week, including one evening shift and occasional Saturdays.

Naturopathic Testing & Diagnostics

Mullen Health offers a range of specialised naturopathic testing services to support practitioner care plans.

Our Testing Technicians conduct testing appointments with patients and assist practitioners by providing valuable diagnostic insights.

The role includes

• Conducting specialised testing appointments
• Live blood analysis (microscopic blood analysis)
• Food intolerance testing
• Urine and saliva testing
• Supporting practitioners with patient testing needs

Full training is provided.

We would love to hear from you if you:

• Have a caring and professional approach with patients
• Are organised and time efficient
• Have good computer skills
• Have strong customer service skills

Preferred but not essential

• Background in pathology, nursing or natural therapies
• Students or graduates in natural health fields

Typical hours:

This is an opportunity to observe how a professional clinic operates day-to-day, including patient interactions, treatment planning, dispensary processes, and collaborative care.

We are interested in students who:
