Beetroot Smoothie
This smoothie is super quick and easy to make. It is packed with folate, iron, B12 and antioxidants, which are the 4 pillars of building healthy red blood cells!
Time: 5 minutes
Serves 1
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 small beetroot
- ½ cup of raspberries or blueberries
- 1 cup of spinach, kale or silverbeet
- 3 soaked prunes or 1 soaked date
- Small wedge of lemon (organic if possible, peel included)
- 1-2 teaspoons of spirulina powder*
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla essence
- ½ cup of water or milk of choice
- 2 tablespoons of sunflower seeds/hemp seeds*
- *Optional, but delicious
METHOD:
- Place all ingredients in a speed blender until smooth
- Top with fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, yoghurt if you want a more substantial smoothie
