Chocolate sauce
Store bought sauces are loaded with sugar, additives, preservatives and other nastys. This version is full of good fats, nutrients, and relatively low in sugar comparatively. This sauce sets to be chocolate (like Ice-Magic), so it’s especially great for kids if you’re serving it on ice-cream.
INGREDIENTS:
- 200g cacao butter
- 50g cacao
- 4 dates, soaked in hot water for 5+ minutes then drained. *the number of dates can be reduced as your tolerance to sweetness develops. This is a good starting amount though.
METHOD:
- Blend the butter into small flakes. Add cacao and dates and set Thermomix on stirring speed for 3 minutes at 100 degrees.
- Pour over ice-cream or cakes soon after/ before it sets.
If the sauce is made in advance, simply pour the liquid chocolate into a bowl/container in the fridge. When you’re ready to use it, run hot/boiling water over the outside of the container so that the chocolate easily slips from the bowl. Pop it back into the Thermomix and blend into fine peices. Then, set at 100 degrees, stirring speed for 1-2 minutes or until it becomes liquid again.
You could also make a batch of the chocolate and instead of storing it in a bowl, set them into icecubes. That way, you can reheat as much as you would like to use per time, and can use the other cubes for different recipes, like choc chip cookies.
