Maple Spiced Nuts
INGREDIENTS:
- 1kg mixed raw nuts
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1 ½ tblspns cumin
- 1 ½ tblspns cinnamon
- 1 ½ tspns cayenne pepper
- 1 ½ tspns cardamom
- 1 tspn salt
- 2 egg whites
METHOD:
- Preheat oven to 180c and line a large tray with baking paper and set aside.
- Place the nuts, maple syrup and all the spices into a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
- In a separate bowl place the egg whites and whisk until stiff peaks are formed.
- Stir the egg whites through the nut mixture until combined.
- Place the nut mixture onto the prepared tray. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
- For best results, carefully remove the tray from the oven and stir the nuts 2-3 times during the cooking process.
- Store in an airtight container.
