Naturopathy for Men: What We Help With
As a men’s health naturopath Newcastle clinic, we know most men don’t book in until something has been bugging them for a while. Common reasons men see a naturopath include:
- Low energy, or nodding off on the couch after dinner
- Weight gain around the middle that won’t shift
- Harder to build muscle or recover from training
- Lower sex drive or less confidence in the bedroom
- Feeling flat, moody or short-fused
- Poor sleep or waking up tired
- Trying for a baby and it’s taking longer than expected
- Getting up at night to go to the toilet
If a few of these sound familiar, it’s worth a proper look.
Building a Family
Getting healthy for a baby? Sperm health matters as much as your partner’s health.
Building a Family: Naturopathic Support for Male Fertility
Fertility is a team effort, and male factors play a part for many couples who are trying to conceive. New sperm take around three months to develop, so the changes you make now can support the health of the sperm you’ll have in a few months’ time.
Lifestyle factors that can affect sperm health: alcohol, smoking, high caffeine intake, stress, being over or under a healthy weight, heat exposure, chemicals in plastics, and some medications.
How our naturopaths support future dads
- A full health assessment, including your free iris exam
- Reviewing your semen analysis and blood test results with you
- Food and lifestyle changes to support healthy sperm
- Key nutrients such as zinc, antioxidants and healthy fats
- Working alongside your GP or fertility specialist
Our naturopath Casey Harrison has a special interest in fertility. She works with women on their fertility journey and can also support men who are preparing for a baby alongside their partner.

Ageing Well: Men’s Hormone Health and Healthy Ageing
It’s easy to blame tiredness, weight gain or a lower sex drive on age. But research in healthy Australian men shows testosterone doesn’t have to decline just because you get older. More often, symptoms are linked to things that can be supported:
- Weight around the middle – closely linked to lower testosterone
- Stress and sleep – long-term stress and poor sleep affect hormones, mood and drive
- Nutrition – zinc, magnesium and vitamin D all play a role in men’s hormone health
- Gut health and everyday toxins – inflammation and chemicals can affect hormone production
Our naturopaths look at the whole picture to find what’s behind your symptoms, then build a plan to support your energy, strength and wellbeing.

Genetic Testing for Men
Your DNA can show how your body handles nutrients, inflammation and detoxification. SmartDNA genetic testing helps our naturopaths build a plan that suits your body, whether you’re building a family or focused on ageing well.
For deeper insight, we also offer smartDNA’s Advanced Pathways test, which looks further into sex hormone pathways (including testosterone), thyroid, mood and serotonin. Your naturopath can help you choose the right test for you.

Men’s Health Naturopath Newcastle FAQs
Can a naturopath help with low testosterone?
A naturopath can look at the factors linked to low testosterone, such as weight, stress, sleep, nutrition and gut health, and support them with diet, lifestyle and supplements. We work alongside your GP and recommend testing to confirm your levels.
Can a naturopath help with male fertility?
Yes. Naturopaths support male fertility through nutrition, lifestyle changes and targeted nutrients for sperm health, ideally starting around three months before trying to conceive.
Do I need blood tests or a semen analysis?
Not always, but testing helps us understand what’s going on. Your naturopath will let you know which tests may be useful, and can review results you already have.
Is it awkward to talk about sexual health?
Not here. Our naturopaths talk about these concerns every day, and everything stays confidential.
Will naturopathy replace my GP or medication?
No. We work alongside your GP and never ask you to stop medication. If you have new or serious symptoms, please see your GP.
Can I claim on my health fund?
Some health funds cover some of our services. It’s best to check with your individual health fund and scope of cover.
